How button badges can support your business campaign!

Like magpies, the human eye is drawn to shiny, bright objects. Button badges may be small, but they’re attention-grabbing!

Why do button badges make great promotional tools?

If you’re looking for a cost-effective way to spread a message, customised button badges are the perfect solution. They can be produced on a fast turnaround which makes them ideal for time-limited sales or upcoming events.

Because of their small size and minimal weight, button badges are easy to distribute too. It doesn’t matter if your employees wear them on T-shirts or suits, baseball hats or bags. A button badge goes with everything!

In a busy customer footfall area, button badges reach an incredibly wide audience—all through utilising an existing, interactive resource which is always on the move: your employees.

What can button badges promote?

Whatever you want! Use them to draw attention to:

  • your new service
  • your freshly launched product
  • your special occasion or event
  • your new retail strategy

Plus you can give them out as freebies, turning customers into ambassadors. They’re a fun promo tool at conferences, trade fairs and events too.

A stand-out design might join someone’s badge collection, continuing to raise brand awareness for years to come. It could even reach Antiques Roadshow status. After all, a badge from the Titanic sold for £68,000!

An iconic example

2009 saw the launch of the Challenge 25 retailing strategy encouraging over 18s who look under 25 to carry ID when buying alcohol. Retail employees wear Challenge 25 badges to reinforce the campaign message. This has helped 67% of the population become aware of the campaign, according to the Retail of Alcohol Standards Group.

Talk the talk

Many of our clients use button badges as conversation starters. How? With ‘Ask me about…’ button badges. They’re a fantastic way to overcome the natural reserve of us Brits. A chat creates a more personalised customer experience. And a good customer experience will lead 42% of consumers to buy from you again according to Zendesk.

Tip: If you don’t have a special promotion in mind, you might want to harness the psychological power of Happy to Help badges.

How to make a button badge stand out

The simpler the design of your button badge, the greater its power. Short, snappy text means you can use larger fonts that stand out. We usually recommend a sans serif font – without the ‘curls’ – as it’s easier to read.

A strong image makes a design pop. This could be your logo, graphic or photo.

Don’t forget the size and shape. When people think of button badges, it’s often the traditional circle. But we offer a square version too.

Play with scale for the most impact, such as oversized or micro-mini.

A button badge isn’t meant to be subtle so go with high-contrast colour combinations. Yellow is the first colour to be processed by the eye. But even a monochromatic black and white can wow.
